James Gray (2013)

In the run-up to Christmas 2013, Irish pensioner James Gray wrote to the Irish Post in

the hope of finding a companion with whom to spend December 25th. James had been

alone for the last 10 Christmas Days. He wished also to raise awareness of the fact

that so many others would be facing similar isolation, without even a Christmas card

through their door.

James' story went viral, and he received cards from countries including Switzerland,

the USA and Uruguay. Irish primary schools sent cards from entire classes. Dozens of

others offered to invite him into their home at Christmas.

There is clearly an appetite to help in this way.

Could you help us to make Christmas 2014 meaningful for hundreds of James Grays?
